Hamas Coming to the United States Sanctioned in Bill H.R. 1388 Signed by Obama

Untruthful Rumor
In reference to Presidential Determination FR Doc E9-2488 to increase funding regarding aid to the Palestinians. A rumor has been circulating the internet accusing the President of passing a bill that would relocate Hamas operatives to the United States as refugees from the Israeli - Palestinian conflict. This is completely untrue. Not only that, it is not called H.R. 1388. Instead, the President did sign a determination that 20.3 million dollars should be added to the contributions of 2009 to ERMA, (Emergency Refugee and Migration Assistance fund), which amounts to 120 million dollars already being given this year to various agencies that are giving aid to Palestinians affected by the conflict in the region. We are not talking about terrorists, but civilians. The UNRWA, (U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East), ICRC, (International Committee of the Red Cross), and OCHA, (U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs), are using these funds to distribute assistance to the Palestinian refugees and conflict victims in the form of food, medical aid, temporary shelter and even temporary job assistance. Basically, a really complex and well funded aid station to bring relief to the Palestinians.
There is nothing to indicate that thousands of Hamas, or refugees will be welcomed into the United States with open arms without security checks. In fact, there is nothing to indicate that the United States will accept any Palestinian refugees of any kind as a direct result of this additional aid. Obviously, the U.S. government has already been giving aid, and about 20 million dollars' worth is being added.
The rumor targets conservatives and right wingers already suspicious of Obama, and when the idea is presented, it is very easy to misinterpret the true meaning of the determination and one can see "Hamas" instead of "Palestinians" or "conflict victims". There are unanswered questions about Obama's legitimacy to be president in reference to his place of origin, but notable mainstream conservatives such as talk show host Michael Medved and Governor Mike Huckabee have taken a firm stand against conspiracy theorists who claim that there are discrepancies that can not be ignored concerning President Obama's "natural born citizen" status.
Anti-American?
Most conservatives feel very strongly that Barrack Obama is not fit to be the president of the United States, mostly because of his media focused campaign to capture the hearts of people hungry for change - or a political upset and takeover of Washington, and because of his extreme left leaning standing. There is also a contingent that feel Obama has ties with middle eastern Islamic religion and its leaders. These people leave no stone unturned in their search for evidence proving Obama is an anti-American, racist Muslim bent on the destruction of America as we know it for the furtherance of Islamica.
Radical Muslim or Leftist?
The problem with that thinking is that he is not radical enough to be a fundamental, extremist Muslim, and he is way to liberal and humanist to be a homegrown middle eastern follower of Islam. Everything Obama has done and attempted to do since taking office indicates that he is a Marxist and his anger and intolerance toward questions concerning his policies and leadership style resemble a Communist dictator more than anything else. He is for wealth redistribution, government controlled healthcare that takes the freedom to choose what level of healthcare is received by the recipient, and is spending money like a drunken Republican, (at least with Republicans, giant expenditures of money are directed to more tangible items such as strengthening the military rather than a 50/50 hope that the bad economy can be turned around by giving that money to the same people who got us into this mess).
Face the Logic
So the question that must be faced is how can Obama be both a Communist and a radical extremist Muslim? He can't be. A radical extremist fundamental Muslim prefers a theocratic government, not a Communist one. There is no question that Islam has played a small role in Barrack Obama's life, but considering his arrogance and immaturity as evidenced by the persistent anger directed at those who disagree with his policies, he is not serious about following the ways of Islam and toys with the idea of "going back to his roots" by playing dress up Muslim and appealing to the Islamic leaders around the world with heartfelt apologies for Bush's, *ahem*, the United States' actions the past 8 years. His behavior concerning the appeasement of Islamic minded people is nothing more than the self destructive liberal tendency to welcome enemies with open arms, apologies and concessions. This is bad enough by itself, however the undeserved focus on simple non-issues such as the lie that Obama is opening the doors for Hamas to legally infiltrate American soil is distracting us from the real and destructive changes this president is enacting on a local and worldwide scale.
What if the thousands of conspiracy theorists joined with mainstream conservatives to protest Obama's approval of stem cell research or apologizing on their behalf to the world for actions they likely do approve of? All the energy put into wacko theories and the dead issue of where Obama was born could be utilized to force the president to listen to the voice of America, instead of having a million patriotic dissenters running in a million different directions distracting the rest of us from bigger issues and making the American people ineffective as a unified force.
The real tragedy concerning aid to Palestine and the Obama administration's refusal to support Israeli offensive military action is that the conflict will continue. Palestinians and Israelis will continue to suffer and a democratic nation, (Israel), will be forced to allow their enemy to survive and fight an unrighteous battle on unfair terms instead of making peace and building a prosperous state of their own. This will be Obama's lasting legacy: to spend money on programs that do not resolve the issues that warranted the need for financial aid in the first place.

If you read the Old Testament you get a clear picture of why Jew and Arab will be at each others throats until the end of time. Hatred in that part of the world is something that Westerners can't comprehend, it runs deeper than religion or reason.
Obama is well on his way to destroying American as we have known it since 1942. We have fought socialistic ideas for more than a century but suddenly such is being embraced. "Change we can believe in" is not liberal but social change based in the writings of people at the edge of of society that are neither liberal or democratic.
At least you have given people something to think about!
I like Obama. He has the big picture in mind. His efforts are directed toward world peace. All this nitpicking and squabbling about what he did or if he's a US citizen is all hind sight. Every public official has critics and Obama seems to have struck a very sensitive nerve with them. Why? who knows. Maybe because he has African genetics running through his veins, or maybe he is doing the right thing and corrupt profiteers and war mongers are scared. He understands the world situation 100's of times better than I do, I trust his judgment and I think he is the best president since Kennedy. After his 8 years in office he will be listed among the greats throughout world history alongside Mahatma Gandhi an Gaius Julius Caesar. For you Obama-phobes, go to You Tube and take a look at "Glenn Beck presents the Obama National Anthem". This is how petty they have become.
Hamas or al aksa, the real problem is that there is presently no international body which can solve international crisis like Palestine , Kashmir etc.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading both this hub as well as all the comments. Everyone's perspectives vary greatly, which just goes to show how mixed opinions are within America, and how difficult it can be to reach a concensus on a subject.
Though I do not believe a socialist government would work here, certain policies could be put in place that have more liberal tendancies, for example, to ensure the well being of those who have fallen on hard times (ie. unemployed) and cannot afford to take care of their basic needs. However, there has to be a compromise where taxpayers don't give all their money to keep said people afloat, such as a program that helps get people back on their feet (finding a job), but if they don't take advantage of this help, they get cut off from financial aid after a certain amount of time, as opposed to extreme capitalist ideals where once you are down, you are out of luck; no one will offer a hand because each person is only out to get his.
Back to the main subject, though: the key word is compromise. People may have different views on how things ought to be run, but through compromise an agreement can be made and things can move foreward, often in the best interest of everyone.
In this instance, the refugees have a chance to recieve aid and start living as humans, free of conflict. It is difficultfor many Americans to imagine what it is like to live in a war torn region, and most of what they do know is through skewed media shots or glamourized Hollywood movies. It gives us great visuals, but what is lacking is the feeling of danger and fear. This bill, along with others like it passed by Obama and others, gives civilians there hope and the possibility of rebuilding their lives so that they can live with their families like human beings have the right to.
I believe both parties need an overhaul I don't believe in either. Votes are cast to elect the lesser of two evils- that seems to be the cry at every election. Meanwhile our courts are fraudulent. enough said. But you are right- Obama will be the target of hate for as long as he is in office. I couldn't be a republican because of the hate that is projected with the hypocrisy. The same could be said of either party. America hates itself. Half the cictzens hate the other half. Obama will not do anything in my life to make a meaningful change for me. People will curse me on my bike. They will throw things. A former US Marine will hate me because I believe that all God's people should be treated at a doctor the same. Our people argue about the strategies of fighting wars that should not be fought. An ounce of prevention is worth thousands of lives. Too much rhetoric, too much hate, everything changes the same. Sorry. I go on and on. I just see America in turmoil and too many are too comfortable and too many are without. Thanks for a great hub. Sorry I ranted on. I appreciate you and your hub. Thanks
Your Hub is terrific! You hit the nail on the head when you wrote:

You got that right, brother. Well done!!

The conflict between the Israelis and the Palestinians seems unsolvable. Intervention by the USA only seems to make things worse. Well thought out hub on a thorny subject. It looks as if there will be no peace in the middle East in our life time.
